Libido is an important part of myself… which is a polite way of saying that I’m, as the kids say “Horny on Main”. Of course like any self-respecting adult, I know better than to rub it into people’s faces and make uncomfortable passes… nowadays at least, it’s not hard to finde evidence to the contrary when you’ve been in the internet for enough time.
Why do I open with this? To basically prelude the idea that this GOTY list is only going to contain +18 games. There’s a few reasons for this:
- They make up the bulk of my playtime. Since they’re short it’s less taxing mentally to just go “yeah I can drop 10 bucks for a small author and be done in like… 2 hours”
- I legitimately think there’s an interesting unexplored design space in erotic games. The way it can be used as an incentive and manipulation tool; the balance involved in making sure a game isn’t trivial or too hard. If done correctly it can even enhance the experience.
- Narratively, they tend to be more open because hey, you already broke the most basic of “barriers”, what’s another one.
- I would be happy if these games that on a great day see 10.000 lifetime total sales could see more.
- I just like the idea of talking about games I want you to know and you probably don’t.
So let’s start with…
ヤリステメスブター ボクだけの謎ルール!女トレーナーに勝つとエッチあたりまえ
“Yarisute Mesubuter. Rules that apply only to me! If you defeat a female trainer, you’ll obviously have sex!”
So the main character is the archetypical fat ugly kid. He lives in a Pokemon parody world, his “Yarimon” is an ugly slime that isn’t in the “pokedex”. One day it unlocks a One Hit KO attack that never misses and after winning against his childhood friend, he’s able to have sex with her.
Oh yeah, it’s also a story that explores the idea of how the fuck could an idyllic place like the pokemon world where the global scale crises of our world don’t seem to exist and kids can roam free. It’s almost as if the world was created from scratch that way very recently.
This is not done in any sarcastic way by the way. This game has stayed on the top of the charts of DL Site for a hot minute and it’s very well deserved.
It made me engage with the actual mechanics instead of just relying on the cheat attack because I was having fun beyond the porn part. Hell, they announced a DLC on the 12th to come hopefully by the end of the month.
By the way, that same group also made a different game about a fat ugly man that gets tickets that let him have sex with any woman within the radius of his house.
And the similarities in designs might not be just an internal nod…
“Natsu no Sagashimono”
The “summer vacation” game is a genre that goes beyond just Boku no Natsuyasumi. You can find many of them in DL Site often. There’s one in particular that looms over every other and it’s the next entry… but for now, let’s focus on this gem.
Stylized like a GBA game, Natsu no Sagashimono focuses on Natsu, a slightly androgynous boy staying with his aunt for summer as he meets the other locals.
Said locals include the overdeveloped teenager whose dad keeps confusing her for her mom whenever he gets drunk, said teenager’s adoptive sister who was abandoned by her mom because she was running away from debt collectors, a college student in charge of the local candy store keeping her grandma’s shop despite the wishes of her brother and dad, and a mysterious green haired girl staying with your aunt.
Said aunt, by the way, is a widow that can’t leave her house, just being in the border with the street makes her want to puke.
This isn’t a game that starts with a cheeky narrative that then turns serious, it’s actually very consistent with its tone and its escalation of action is shockingly smooth.
I have more to say about it, but that’s better left for a different post.
It’s just so well made, I love it.
“Winter Amaenbo”
Amaenbo (localized as “Summer Memories”) made a huge splash when it released. It was effectively a Summer Game Power Fantasy, where before long the world is your oyster and all the girls are at your disposal.
This sequel, taking place in Winter vacations instead does some really interesting things. Not only mechanically, expanding on a lot of things, but also narratively on the mere fact that it’s a sequel to a porn game and that has some interesting implications attached to itself.
This is another one I’ve been meaning to write about in detail.
This isn’t a game, but a studio that started releasing stuff this year, two games to be more precise, so rather than picking one I wanna highlight both.
“The Rabbit-eared adventurers and the perverted carrot”
This fantasy world has a race of rabbit-eared women that are naturally stronger than humans. You go on an adventure with them.
You can also give them hypnotic carrots, you can guess what for.
“Milking Sex with Shy Mio-chan”
Cow Girl, has to be milked, guess what happens.
“Katagiri-san is cold to me”
So this faceless fat boy gets stuck with the eponymous “Katagiri” in one of those “the door won’t open unless you do X” scenarios, except that as they get deeper and deeper into the place weirder things start to happen, including a bunch of seemingly mass-produced clones of Katagiri.
Get it? Because the mob character was the boy but the one that was actually sold by the dozen is the girl.
This one is a breezy one, just solving riddles and puzzles.
“Monster Black Market”
So this one is actually from last year, but the DLC came out in January so I’m using it as an excuse to talk about it.
The premise is simple: Management sim where you breed women with monsters, make money, expand, eventually open a whorehouse on the top levels.
I’ve played this game from scratch in all difficulties at least once just because it’s fun. And writing about it is making me wanna try an extra run now.

“Ooedo Trigger!! After a Time Slip you’ll be attacked by sluts and be in Harem Hell?!”
Like with the last one, this one came out last year but the VR version that I played is from this year.
The title… tells all the plot, honestly. It’s basically GalGun but with porn, and as someone that has played more GalGun in VR than anyone else should I was shocked to see some super fun additions.
For one you can actually dual wield your guns and even shoot things out of sight.
Sadly, it loses that GalGun element of learning what the weak spot of every specific girl is.
“Loop Train -Get Naughty with the girl thanks to the molestation app”
So remember when I mentioned earlier how erotic games have this unexplored design space that can teach people the push and pull of rewards?
Chikan (Molestation, often in public spaces) games tend to annoy me. In paper they’re stealth missions and there’s some genius in that idea that the better you do the more of the Good Stuff you see… in practice, the difficulty tends to be too high at the start or too cryptic. The difficulty is set at an unreasonable starting point and it hopes you alleviate it through grind and attrition.
This one is the first one where I felt more comfortable with that initial frustration while powering up and making the difficulty curve slide into oblivion.
“Honeycome”
Illusion, the iconic and groundbreaking company responsible for the first examples of bishoujo games in 3D sadly closed its doors this year, on its 30th anniversary.
Illusion became famous for its simulation titles. Controversially with Rapelay but then later in a more positive light with Honey Select 1 and 2, where a girl with a name that vaguely references a Goetia demon related to lust lets you have sex in a hotel to your heart’s content.
In August, after Illusion closed, a new company called Illgames debuted its simulation game where a girl that vaguely references a Goetia demon greets the player to a hotel where they can have sex however they want with whoever they want.
Honey Come is cool tho, it iterates on the anime aesthetic of Koikatsu and loads shockingly fast.
“Dungeon with Gal”
You get Isekai’d, you find a trendy girl that was too. You travel together and shenanigans ensue.
You’ll never see me complain about the Gal/Gyaru boom that My Dress -Up Darling caused especially with the proliferation of smiles showing all their teeth as part of the aesthetic… but that also means this one stood out more because the art was above average than because of any deep mechanic or story.
Not to say it’s bad tho.
“Big Boobs Quest Gaiden 3.5”
This one is my pet pick.
ブラックメタルu-1‘s games aren’t groundbreaking in any way, but not only do they appeal to me with hyper specific precision but they’re always consistent, and I just take every opportunity I can to give them a shout out.
“Room Escape with a Servant Doll”
You wake up in a sealed room with only one robotic girl at your service and must solve puzzles to leave.
Honestly, the puzzles were really fun and creative, and any creepiness from everything being pre-rendered 3D ends up adding a lot to the atmosphere.
Honorable mention goes to both Hadashi Shoujo and Milk Factory who released their usual affair this year. These higher budget VN companies are a dying breed and I’d like to celebrate them while they remain with us still.
I played more, but these are the ones that stuck in my mind and I immediately recognized or remembered. Sure, the Room Gilr DLC (Illusion’s last bit of content ever) came out this year, but Room Girl was so meh that I didn’t remember it until I was writing the HoneyCome part.
